Notes: Adaptation for (baroque) guitar of F 2.17, in Italian alfabeto tablature. For the most part the notation shows merely a sequence of chords to be strummed, along with their rhythm and strumming direction, but the harmonies clearly fit F 2.17. Because of the nature of the instrument, a literal transcription results in frequent inverted harmonies. We have added a bass line with the chord roots, which give a closer representation of what the listener tends to hear. The tablature, reproduced above the incipit, only provides a rhythm for the first measure. It is not clear if the pattern should continue (as shown in the hypothetical transcription) or be varied by the player. The direction of the note stems correspond to the strumming direction indicated in the tablature. (Compare F 19.08H.)
