Notes: Apel (1972) believes this work to be an early composition of Frescobaldi, because it has little in common with his mature toccatas, and resemble the toccatas of the “Venetian School,” as found in Diruta’s Il Transilvano (1593). However, for that very reason later scholars, including Darbellay (2017) and myself, think the attribution is in error.
